Vol. 48 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing Down of a North Wall Factory.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any information as to the threatened closing down of a small factory known as Tighe's Wire-Bound Hose, Ltd, at 2 Spence's Avenue, North Wall, Dublin; if he is aware that the machinery is being dismantled and sent out of the country resulting in loss of employment to Dublin citizens, and if he will cause enquiries to be made with a view of retaining the work in Dublin.

I am aware of the position as stated in the Question. I understand that this business was acquired by an English company in 1928, and that in consequence of that company's decision to transfer the business to its English factory, about six Saorstát citizens are liable to lose their employment. I am examining the possibility of securing a continuance of this industry in the Saorstát by another firm.
