Vol. 48 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bounty on Exports of Cattle to Germany.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the amount per head of bounty paid on all the classes of cattle which were exported to Germany within the last month.

Dr. Ryan

The bounty per head paid on cattle exported to Germany is the same as that paid on cattle exported to Great Britain, namely, 35/- per head on all cattle two years old and upwards, and 15/- per head on cattle 15 months old and under two years old.

As all the cattle exported to Germany were over two years old the amount of bounty was 35/- per head.

Arising out of the Minister's reply may I ask if his Department was credited with this bounty in respect of the cattle which they were instrumental in disposing of in Belgium and was that bounty taken into account when the Minister gave his account of that transaction?

Dr. Ryan

There was no bounty paid on any cattle which the Department exported direct to Belgium.
