Vol. 48 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bounty on Cattle.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether the export bounty on cattle is calculated on the price realised for the cattle in Great Britain or Northern Ireland or on that price less the customs duty paid on them when leaving Saorstát Eireann for either of these areas.

Dr. Ryan

The price realised for cattle is not a factor in determining the amount of bounty payable. Bounty at the rate of 35/- per head is paid on live cattle two years old and over, and a bounty of 15/- per head is paid on live cattle fifteen months and under two years old.

On what valuation is the bounty paid?

Dr. Ryan

It is not paid on a valuation at all.

It is paid on the age basis?

Dr. Ryan

Yes.
