Vol. 48 No. 19

In Committee on Finance. - Vote 68—Electrical Battery Development.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim ná raghaidh thar £7,000 chun slánuithe na suime is gá chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1934, chun Deontais i gCabhair do Thaighde agus Forbairt maidir le Baiterí Leictreachais.

That a sum not exceeding £7,000 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1934, for a Grant-in-Aid for Electrical Battery Research and Development.

Can we have any information from the Minister as to the health of this white elephant?

There is a notice in the Evening Herald, if the Deputy will refer to it.

Are we going to get any information on this?

I thought the Deputy was as familiar as most people with the present position of the concern.

I certainly am, and I want to say that I think the Minister's silence will be better than his speech on this Vote.

If the Deputy wishes to comment in any way on the Vote, I should be glad if he would.

Oh, let us pass it.

Vote put and agreed to.

Keep silent about it.

I notice that this is one of the votes on which the Deputy is keeping silence.

Possibly, because I never said anything foolish about it like the Minister. No wonder he is blushing.

The Deputy is incapable of that in any circumstances.

Certainly, not having blundered as the Minister did.

There is no German or American patent here.

The Vote has been passed.
