Vol. 49 No. 2

Order of Business.

The order of business to-day will be Nos. 2 and 3 and then as on the Order Paper from No. 8 onwards.

The President does not intend to deal with Nos. 2 and 3 now?

These amendments only reached the Deputies this morning and I would ask the Minister responsible to say what he proposes to do with the Seanad amendments.

I understand it will do to take them to-morrow.

In respect of the amendments before us could the Minister say whether he proposes to accept all or only some?

In relation to the Cement (No. 2) Bill it is proposed to accept all the amendments except No. 1.

What about the amendments to the Public Hospitals Bill?

It is proposed to accept amendments 1, 5 and 7, and to ask the Dáil to disagree with amendments 2, 3, 4 and 6. The latter amendments all relate to the question of a pensions fund for nurses. There was general agreement in the Seanad after the amendments were passed there that the question had not been sufficiently examined and that further amendments would be necessary to implement the ones that were passed. The Seanad will not press these amendments if they are rejected by the Dáil.

Ordered: That Nos. 2 and 3 on the Order Paper be taken to-morrow.
Ordered: That Public Business be not interrupted at 9 o'clock for the taking of Private Members' Business.
