Vol. 49 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Economic War Statement.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will make available to Deputies the full text of the statement in connection with the economic war with Great Britain which was circulated to members of the World Economic Conference by the head of the Irish delegation.

The full text of the statement to which the Deputy's question refers is contained in conference document conf. M.E/C.E. 89 of the World Economic Conference. Copies of the statement are available to Deputies in the Oireachtas Library.

Arising out of the President's reply, in view of the fact that this is the first communication addressed by our Government to foreign Governments with regard to the economic war, and in view of the fact, as I understand, that large numbers of copies of that statement have been distributed to the foreign members of the conference, might I ask would the President be willing to distribute copies of this document to each member of the House?

I will consider the matter. At the moment I do not think it is necessary as it is available in the Library. However, I will consider the matter.
