Vol. 49 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing (Gaeltacht) Acts Grant.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he has received an application from John W. Healy, Ballymakera, Ballyvourney, County Cork, for a grant and loan under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Acts; if he is aware that the existing house of the applicant has been condemned by the local medical officer of health; that he has already paid the sum of £40 for a new site, and if sanction for the grant and loan in this case will be expedited.

A grant and loan amounting to £170 have been sanctioned in this case under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Acts.

Am I to understand that a grant of £170 has been sanctioned for this applicant?

How long has it been sanctioned, because I was speaking to the wife of the applicant on Monday?

That is a separate question.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that grants in respect of Gaeltacht housing have been sanctioned in a very large number of cases for five or six months and the people have not yet received their money?

I am not aware.

I am not quite clear as to the reply, because I was speaking to the wife of the applicant on Monday evening and she told me they received no notification as to the sanction of this grant.

He might be a prudent man.
