Vol. 49 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing on Farms.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether, seeing the urgent need for improving the housing of Irish farmers, and recognising that while large grants from the State were given for the building of houses in towns, he will encourage farmers to build by placing no valuation on new houses built by farmers the valuation of whose land is under £50.

I am satisfied that the grants, rates, remission and loans already provided by the State are sufficient to enable farmers to provide themselves with house accommodation and I do not propose to introduce any further legislation in the matter.
