Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sanction of Retrospective Payments.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has sanctioned under the Local Government Act, 1933 (No. 5 of '33), any payments by the Galway County Council or Board of Health to any of their officers in respect of periods of absence from duty during the years 1922 and 1923, and if so, if he will state the name of each officer for whom such payments has been sanctioned; the position now held by him; his present salary or wages and other emoluments; the amount of the payment sanctioned under the above Act; and the relative period of absence.

A payment under Section 7 of the Local Government Act, 1933, in respect of absence from duty during the period from the 1st July, 1922, to the 30th April, 1923, was sanctioned on the 27th September last to Dr. Seán Tubridy, formerly Dispensary Medical Officer and Medical Officer of Health, Lettermore, County Galway. Dr. Tubridy at present holds similar positions in the Oranmore District at a salary of £300 per annum as Dispensary Medical Officer and £15 per annum as Medical Officer of Health. The payments appropriate to the period amount to £203 6s. 8d. as Dispensary Officer and £16 13s. 4d. as Medical Officer of Health. These payments cover the maximum period of absence provided for in Section 7 of the Act.
