Vol. 50 No. 3

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Alleged Assault in Bandon.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state what steps, if any, have been taken to trace the identities of the three disturbers of the public peace who, in the early hours of Sunday morning, October 29th, 1933, dragged from their homes and brutally assaulted two law abiding citizens, Messrs. O'Leary and O'Reilly, living in the neighbourhood of Bandon, County Cork.

The police have taken, and will continue to take, every step in their power to have the persons who committed the offence referred to in the question identified and brought to justice. Whilst it is, in general, undesirable in the interests of the administration of justice to publish any details of police activities in the investigation of crime whilst the matter is still pending, I may say that over one hundred persons have been approached by the police in this matter in the course of their investigations.

How many more are going to be approached?

Dr. Ryan

I could not say that.
