Vol. 50 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bounty on Lissarda Geese and Turkeys

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that Mr. Denis Murphy, of Curraclough, Lissarda, County Cork, who exported 34 geese weighing 406 lbs., and 12 turkeys weighing 145 lbs. to the London market prior to Christmas last, applied to his Department for the bounty due to be paid in respect of the export of these goods, but that this has so far not been paid, and if the Minister will undertake to see that such bounty is paid without further delay.

Dr. Ryan

The facts are as stated in the question. Mr. Murphy was informed on the 28th December last, on receipt of his claim, that bounty was not payable as his consignment was not packed in the manner recommended by the Department. This decision was in accordance with a circular issued on the 8th September last, intimating that bounty might be withheld in whole or in part unless shippers complied with the instructions which accompanied the circular.

As, however, the shipper in question is not a regular exporter, I am having his case reconsidered.
