Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Saorstát Housing Statistics.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the number of houses erected by (a) private persons; (b) public utility societies, and (c) local authorities in urban and rural areas under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, up to the 1st February, 1934, and also the number in course of erection and approved for erection under that Act up to the same date.

The following are the figures relating to private persons, public utility societies and local authorities under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, up to the 1st February, 1934:—

* There is no exact information as to the number of houses actually in course of construction by private enterprise in rural areas where the time for completion extends to 1st April, 1935, but it may be assumed that the greater portion of the number approved of in urban areas are in progress as these houses have to be completed by April next to qualify for a grant of £60 which ill be reduced to £50 thereafter. The figures given include houses being constructed.

Making a total of 30,753 houses completed, in course of erection, and approved for erection under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932.
