Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Housing Reconstruction.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state (a) the number of applications for reconstruction grants under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, which have been received from persons resident in the County Kildare up to the 1st March, 1934; (b) the number of cases in which grants have been made, (c) the number of cases in which grants have been refused, and (d) the total amount of the grants made.

(a) The number of applications received up to the 1st instant from persons resident in the County Kildare for grants under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, for the reconstruction of houses is 138; (b) grants have been allocated in respect of 56 houses; (c) applications for grants in respect of 55 houses have been rejected and investigations are being made in the remaining 27 cases; (d) the total amount of grants allocated is £2,160, and the amount paid £335. The number given at (a) does not include cases where inquiries were made as to the facilities available under the Act and which were not pursued further by the applicants.
