Vol. 51 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltacht Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the unsatisfactory condition of housing in the Gaeltacht and the commitments already made, he will consider the advisability of increasing in the forthcoming financial year the sums allotted under this head so that the schemes of housing already inspected and sanctioned may be completed.

The question of amending legislation to Gaeltacht Housing Acts is at present receiving consideration.

Is the Minister not able to give a more definite statement on this matter in view of the fact that he has reduced the amount for housing in his Estimate from £80,000 to £45,000? In view of the very unsatisfactory conditions of housing in the Gaeltacht, he should be able to give some indication as to whether he is going to bring about any improvement.
