Vol. 51 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Hospital Facilities.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the Hospitals Commission has made any report to him dealing with the hospital and nursing facilities in Limerick City; and, if so, if he will state what is the nature of such report; and, if not, if he is aware that very substantial sums of money already have been expended on additions, equipment, etc., by the respective Committees of St. John's and Barrington Hospitals and that the Hospitals Commission have intimated to the committees of those hospitals the scrapping of those institutions and the substitution of a State controlled general hospital therefor, and that refusal to accept the proposals has resulted in the stoppage of grants, and if these recommendations have his approval, and what steps he proposes to take to allay the alarm that is being caused locally.

I have not received the report referred to; I am not, therefore, in a position to deal with the various points raised by the Deputy.
