Vol. 53 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Mussel Cleansing Plant.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether constructional work has yet been started in connection with the proposed mussel cleansing plant at Dublin; if not, what difficulties exist with regard to its construction; and whether the Minister can give a guarantee that such plant will be in operation by the opening of the mussel-raising season in autumn next.

The construction of the plant in question has not yet begun, and I am unable to promise that the plant will be in operation next autumn. I would prefer not to make any public statement as to the difficulties that exist pending the outcome of certain inquiries which are at present being pursued.
