Vol. 53 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Search of Tipperary House.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether the house of John McCarthy, Henry Street, Tipperary, was searched by detectives on the 17th February last; and, if so, if he will state what was the reason for the search; what was the result of the search; whether any articles were removed by the detectives; whether any persons were arrested and charged, and, if so, with what result.

A search was carried out as stated in the question. One person was arrested and interrogated under the provisions of the Constitution (Amendment No. 17) Act. He was subsequently released, no charge being preferred against him.

Can the Minister say whether any articles were removed?

I am not prepared to say.

Is it not a fact that papers were removed?

I am not prepared to give any information on the matter.

Will the Minister say if articles removed were returned? In view of the nebulous nature of the answer I desire to give notice that I will raise this question on the Adjournment.
