Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Unemployment Assistance Act.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, up to the latest date for which the information is available, the number of people who have been refused unemployment assistance benefits under the Unemployment Assistance Act, 1933; and if he will also state the number of cases disallowed by the Court of Referees.

The number of persons whose applications for unemployment assistance were disallowed up to 22nd May, 1934, the latest date for which figures are available, was 655. The number of cases in which disallowances of unemployment assistance have been imposed up to 22nd May, 1934, pursuant to recommendations to that effect by courts of referees, was 45.
