Vol. 53 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lobster Fishing.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the number of boats and men, belonging to the West Cork constituency, engaged in the lobster fishing.

Dr. Ryan

According to the statistics for the year 1933 the number of persons resident on the coastline from Passage West to Ardgroom and the adjacent islands who participated in lobster fishing last season was 420. The number of boats (including canoes) utilised was 122. Some of these persons were probably engaged in this fishery for very brief spells.
