asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that in connection with the operation of the Unemployment Assistance Act, 1933, men who are returned as "fishing" are scheduled as being "at work," and even though the results of such fishing are in most cases "nil," they are, on account of the fact of being "at work," deprived of the advantages of the Act; and if he will therefore take the necessary steps to ensure that reports in such cases are based on the actual results of such fishing and not on the mere fact of the men being "at work."

I have been unable from the particulars given in the Deputy's question to trace any case in which Unemployment Assistance has been refused in the circumstances described by him, but if he will give me the names and addresses of the persons in question together (if possible) with the numbers of their qualification certificates I shall have the matter investigated and let him know the results.
