Vol. 53 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Mackerel.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantity and value of the cured mackerel exported from the Free State to the United States during the year 1933; and if he has entered into any negotiations with regard to the removal or reduction of the Fordney tariff on cured mackerel imported into the States.

During the year 1933, 3,206 cwts. of cured mackerel, valued at £2,800, were exported from the Free State to the U.S.A. As regards the second part of the question, our trade relations with the United States of America are at present under consideration, and the position in regard to cured mackerel will receive attention.
