Criminal Law Amendment Bill, 1934—Report and Fifth Stages.

I move amendment No. 1:—

In page 6 to delete Section 20 as amended in Committee.

I think the matter could be more properly dealt with in the Courts of Justice Bill. I tried to find a means of meeting Deputy Dr. Rowlette's point of view, and I think that considering all the circumstances it is much better to delete the section and try to deal with it in some way on the Courts of Justice Bill.

The Minister's idea is to leave discretionary power?

To leave the position as it is.
