Vol. 53 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Small Dwellings Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that a number of persons in County Limerick have qualified for loans under the Small Dwellings Act, and have not yet been granted payment from the Limerick County Council; that the delay has caused serious hardship, and if he will inquire into the matter and take steps to expedite payment.

The Limerick County Council have just concluded negotiations for a loan in the open market of £15,000 for the purpose of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts, and advances to persons whose applications have been approved of will be made this week.

At what rate is the money being advanced?

I do not know.

The Minister, I hope, is not forgetting that he promised money for this purpose at 4¾ per cent. before the election. I should like to know when it will be available at that rate.

I made no such promise.

Then the Irish Press was wrong.
