Vol. 54 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Registration of Shops.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if it is his intention to bring in a measure in the present session to implement the Report of the Commission on the Registration of Shops (circulated some months ago) and pending such measure if he is in a position to deal with the setting up of shops at cross-roads and centres where shops never previously existed, or to limit the activities of the travelling shops which are menacing the existence of the country towns.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is his intention to introduce immediately the necessary legislation to implement the recommendations of the Committee which reported to him in regard to the proposed registration of shops.

I shall answer Questions Nos. 23 and 24 together.

The Report of the Committee on the Registration of Shops is under consideration but no decision has yet been reached as to the precise scope of the legislation to be promoted as a result of the findings of that Committee.
