Vol. 54 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Circuit Court Appeals.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state when he proposes to take the necessary steps to expedite the hearing and determination of Circuit Court appeals; and whether he is aware that in some cases three years have elapsed between the origination of a suit in the Circuit Court and its final determination on appeal.

Provisions which are contained in the Courts of Justice Bill, 1934, which was recently introduced in the House, will, it is believed, have the effect of expediting the hearing and determination of Circuit Court appeals. I take this opportunity of expressing my regret to Deputies that the text of this Bill has not yet been circulated. The drafting of the measure was completed some time ago, but at the last moment certain proposals were put forward which were considered worthy of acceptance and it was thought better to have them incorporated in the Bill now rather than have them introduced as amendments at a later stage.
