Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Factory Inspectors and Inspection.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of each of the years 1927 to 1934 inclusive (a) the number of factory inspectors employed; (b) the total number of inspections carried out; (c) the number of premises, distinguishing between factories and workshops, visited, and (d) the proportion inspected expressed as a percentage of the total premises to which the Factory Act applies.

The number of factory inspectors employed during the period from 1927 to 1934 varied round the figure 11. The services of some of these inspectors had to be utilised from time to time for other urgent work in the Department.

The number of inspections carried out during the years from 1927 to 1934 is not readily available but the number of places inspected was:—
