Vol. 54 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Soldiers and Civil Service Examinations.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that an open competitive examination for posts as Investigation Officer in the service of the Revenue Commissioners will be held on 26th January, 1935; and whether it is his intention to amend the regulations of this examination so as to grant serving soldiers in the National Army the "over age" allowance granted to civil servants.

The regulations for this examination follow, as regards age extensions, the lines adopted for some years past in all open examinations held by the Civil Service Commissioners, and no allowance is made for Army service. I see no reason for departing from that practice on the present occasion.

Will the Minister say, in view of the fact that a number of Army officers have been informed that their services are no longer required, whether he will make some provision to give them employment when they leave the Army?

Address that to the Deputy's friends.
