Vol. 54 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - P.O. Premises in Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if it is intended to hand over Aldboro' House, Portland Row, and the site at rere, to the Corporation Housing Department for the erection of flats, and if so, if he will state when and on what terms the Corporation will acquire the site.

It is proposed to transfer Aldborough House and grounds to the Dublin Corporation for housing purposes provided that suitable alternative accommodation can be found for the Department's Stores Branch which is at present housed there.

The problem is a difficult one, and I am not yet in a position to state when the premises will be set free, but I recognise the urgency of the matter and assure the Deputy that were will be no avoidable delay. The site is a valuable one, but I expect that the terms will be governed by the cost of removal and housing elsewhere of the stores and staff involved in the change.
