Vol. 54 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Railway Pension Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the judge appointed under Section 11 of the Railways Act, 1933, has reported to him upon the pension scheme proposed by the Great Southern Railways Company, and his judgment delivered thereon, on the 6th November, 1934, and, if so, what further steps he proposes to take to implement the legislation passed in 1933 in this respect, with the object of providing an adequate retiral allowance for employees of the Great Southern Railways Company.

The Railway Tribunal have reported to me on the superannuation scheme submitted to them by the Great Southern Railways Company under the Railways Act, 1933, and the matter is under consideration.

In view of the great urgency for approval and the grave unrest amongst the ranks of the men, will the Minister undertake to have a speedy decision come to in order to have equitable treatment given to these men?

Consideration will not be delayed.
