Vol. 54 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Superannuation of Reinstated Civil Servants.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is yet in a position to state when proposals for legislation will be introduced to regularise the position of reinstated civil servants in the matter of superannuation.

Some applications recently received from persons who claim to be entitled to reinstatement still remain to be disposed of. As soon as they have been dealt with, legislation, the preparations for the drafting of which are otherwise complete, can be introduced.

Can the Minister give any idea when this legislation is likely to be introduced?

That will depend upon the decision of the Committee in the cases of people who lodged applications. The difficulty in connection with this Bill is that every case has its own particular circumstances.

The Minister will appreciate that the position of these people in the matter of superannuation is not satisfactory——

A speech!

——and will he—after you, a Chinn Comhairle, have corrected Deputy Dillon for misbehaviour —say if it would be possible to introduce the Bill during the coming session?

I am not in a position to promise that.
