Vol. 54 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Arrests.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that four young men from the Newtown (Kilmacthomas) district who were arrested on the last Tuesday in October and detained in the Gárda barracks at Barrack Street, Waterford, until about one o'clock on the following Thursday, which was a church holiday, were refused permission to attend Divine Service on the holiday; that during their detention they were housed under most unsatisfactory conditions; that generally the accommodation for prisoners at the Barrack Street barracks is unsuitable from a sanitary point of view, and if he will cause inquiries to be made with a view to having the causes of complaint remedied without delay.

From the information at my disposal the Deputy would appear to have been completely misinformed as to the facts upon which he has based this question.
