Vol. 55 No. 11

Courthouses (Provision and Maintenance) Bill, 1935. - Courthouses (Provision and Maintenance) Bill, 1935.—Committee.

There are amendments in the name of Deputy Brennan. In the absence of Deputy Brennan I would ask that the Minister would allow those amendments to be moved on Report Stage. If that were agreed the different sections would not be disputed.

I should like to remind the House, as a misunderstanding arose on a previous occasion in relation to a similar matter, that those amendments do not automatically reappear on the Order Paper. The proceedings in Committee may necessitate changes. The Deputy must table them again. Numbers 17 and 20 are out of order, as imposing a charge, and should not be repeated.

Section 1 to 5 put and agreed to.
SECTION 6.
(3) Whenever the Commissioners have executed repairs or done other work under this section or a county registrar or a district court clerk has under this section procured repairs or other work to be done or procured the supply of any substance or thing, the following provisions shall have effect, that is to say:—
(b) the amount of any costs or expenses which have been incurred by the Commissioners in the execution or procuring the doing of such repairs or other work or procuring the supply of such substance or thing (as the case may be), may, if and so far as such amount is not otherwise recovered by the Commissioners and whether proceedings for the recovery thereof have or have not been instituted by the Commissioners, be deducted by the Minister for Finance from any grant or other moneys under his control payable to such council;

I move amendment No. 18:—

In sub-section (3) (b), to delete in lines 51 and 52 the words "or procuring the doing" and in lines 53 and 54 the words "or procuring the supply of such substance or thing (as the case may be)".

This is a drafting amendment.
