Vol. 55 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Emblems.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in what Gárda areas application has been made on behalf of the Fianna Fáil Party for a permit to sell any article or emblem in the public streets in aid of their Party funds on Palm Sunday, Good Friday or the other days in Holy Week, or Easter Sunday, the 21st April next, and if he will state in respect of what areas any such application has been granted, and in what area or areas it has been refused; and whether the Government has since considered the propriety of granting such permits.

I am informed by the Commissioner of the Gárda Síochana that applications have been made in all divisional areas for permits for the sale of emblems on behalf of the Fianna Fáil Party during the week ending the 21st of April and that the permits asked for have been granted in each case. The answer to the last part of the Deputy's question is in the negative.

Will the Minister say if the Government intends to consider the propriety of granting a permit to the Government Party to hold a flag day on Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday?
