Vol. 55 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Slaughterhouses in West Cork.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that butchers with licensed slaughterhouses in rural areas in West Cork who have been carrying on business for ten or twelve years have been notified by his Department that they must discontinue this business, and, if so, if he will state what action the Minister is going to take to compensate those men for the resultant loss.

Dr. Ryan

Warnings have been sent to persons in various districts who have been found hawking or selling meat from vans or from movable stalls. These persons have not registered victualling premises although some of them have registered slaughtering premises. It is unlawful to sell meat in any premises or place other than registered victualling premises.
