Vol. 55 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - British Duties on Cattle.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state whether there has been any result in connection with the representations made to the British Government in respect of the penal duties on cattle arising out of the coal-cattle pact.

The answer is in the negative.

Is the Minister satisfied that all reasonable steps were taken to endeavour to impress the British Government with the fair claims we have made in this respect?

I am quite satisfied that all necessary steps were taken.

And notwithstanding the equity of the case they have refused to consider it?

That is the position.
