Vol. 55 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tobacco Act Advisory Committee.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has established an advisory committee under Section 30 of the Tobacco Act, 1934; and, if so, whether he can indicate the manner in which the Committee is constituted; further, whether he can state the rate of wages paid and the conditions of employment observed at rehandling stations; and whether he has made an order under Section 30 of the Tobacco Act prescribing rates of pay and conditions of employment at such stations.

I have not established an advisory committee under Section 30 of the Tobacco Act, 1934. I am advised that the rates of wages paid and the conditions of employment observed at rehandling stations depend on the general level obtaining in the area in which each station is situated. I have not made an order prescribing rates of pay and conditions of employment at rehandling stations.
