Vol. 55 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Merchandise Licences.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of merchandise licences issued under the Road Transport Act, which are now in force; the number of applications for such licences which were transferred under the Act to (a) the Great Southern Railways Company; and (b) the Great Northern Railway Company, and the amount of the compensation paid by each Company to the former licence holders.

The number of merchandise licences issued under the Road Transport Act, 1933, which are now in force, is 1,343. The numbers of merchandise licences transferred to the Great Southern Railways Company and the Great Northern Railway Company were 13 and 5 respectively. I have no information as to the amount of compensation paid by these companies to the former licensees.
