Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Peat and Native Fuel Delegations Abroad.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is proposed that a delegation will visit Germany and Russia in the near future to study the methods adopted in these countries for adapting peat and other native fuel to the requirements of industry; whether the expenses incurred by the delegation will be defrayed out of State funds; whether he is in a position to announce the personnel of the delegation and the scope of their inquiry, and whether he will take steps to insure that at least one member of the delegation will be a person with a practical knowledge of boiler engineering.

The answers to the first and second parts of the question are in the affirmative. The personnel of the delegation is as follows:—

C. S. Andrews, Esq., B.Comm., Managing Director, Turf Development Board, Ltd.

E. Duffy, Esq., M.E., M.I.C.E.I., County Surveyor, Meath County Council.

Henry Kennedy, Esq., M.A., D.Sc., Director, Turf Development Board, Ltd.

P.G. Murphy, Esq., B.E., A.R.C., Sc.I., M.I.C.E.I., Chief Design Engineer, Electricity Supply Board.

The inquiry will cover the study of the methods in use in certain areas in Germany and Russia for the winning and utilisation of turf. With regard to the last part of the question, at least one member of the delegation has practical knowledge of boiler engineering.
