Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Road Passenger Traffic.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is prepared to promote legislation to enable the Dublin Corporation to acquire the road passenger services within and contiguous to the City of Dublin.

I have not received any request from the Dublin Corporation for the promotion of legislation for the purpose stated in the question.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, I want to ask is he aware of the fact that he stated in this House on the 9th December, 1931, on behalf of the Fianna Fáil Party, that it was the policy of that Party to secure municipal ownership and control of transport services in the municipal area, and am I to understand that that policy is now suspended?

That is a separate question.

That was only a statement.

Will the Minister say that he did not make the statement in this House that on behalf of the Fianna Fáil Party the policy of that Party was——

That is a hypothetical question.

Ask Deputy Dowdall—— that was only a statement, that was not an undertaking.

The Minister's policies are hypothetical policies.

They are only statements.
