Vol. 56 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Coal Seams

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any representations were made to him to have the extensive coal seams in West Limerick examined with a view to their immediate development, and whether he is in a position to state what action it is proposed to take in regard to the matter.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. When a revision of the geology of the area, which is in contemplation, has been carried out, I will consider the putting down of exploratory bores. The Deputy will, however, understand that the question of commercial development is primarily one for private enterprise.
