Vol. 56 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of milling licences granted, the number of applications for licences which were refused, and the number of licences now in force under the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1933; further if he will state the number of licences (a) transferred, and (b) revoked under that Act.

151 milling licences have been granted since the application of the relevant part of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1933. Six of these licences were transferred from the original holders to other persons, and five were revoked on the application of the holders in favour of permits under Section 36 of the Act, as the holders discovered that permits would be more suitable to their business. There are at present in force 146 licences. I am unable to state at the moment the number of applications which were refused, but I can arrange to have the information supplied to the Deputy in due course.
