Vol. 56 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Armagh Smuggling Case.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is a fact that the person who gave the information which led to the conviction of Thomas and Bernard Keenan, of Clonelig, County Armagh, at Dundalk District Court on the 19th of September last with illegally importing live fowls into the Saorstát, sent his name in confidence to the Minister; and if he will state why he was not paid the reward usually given in such cases.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a previous question on 27th March.

It is not in the public interest to disclose whether any information was received in any particular case of smuggling either by me or by any official in my Department.
