Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meals for School Children.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the county boroughs, urban districts and county board of health districts in which meals are provided for children attending school, and in each case the number of children for whom meals were provided under the scheme in the years 1933-34 and 1934-35.

The figures will be published in the Official Report. Following is the return:—

In 1934-35 schemes were in operation in all the above Areas. In addition, schemes were inaugurated early in 1935 in the following Areas: Clones, Ennis, Kilrush and Nenagh Urban Districts, and Kilkee and Muinebeag Towns under Town Commissioners.

Particulars as to the number of children provided with meals during 1934-35 are not yet available.

UNDER THE SCHOOL MEALS (GAELTACHT) ACTS, 1930 AND 1933.

Meals are provided in certain Areas which are set out in the Schedule to the School Meals (Gaeltacht) Act, 1930, in each of the following County Health Districts: Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry and Mayo. The average daily number of children provided with school meals during the Year 1933-34 was as follows:—
