Vol. 56 No. 14

Business of the Dáil.

It is proposed to take business to-day as on the Order Paper—items 15, 16 and 17 and the Estimates for Public Services, Votes 26 to 30 inclusive. As regards item No. 16—Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Bill, 1935—Second Stage: the Minister's statement will be taken to-day and the remainder of this Stage adjourned until Wednesday next. It is proposed that public business be not interrupted at 12 o'clock to-day for the taking of Private Deputies' business. The Dáil will adjourn this afternoon until Tuesday next, 28th May, when Estimates 1 and 3, and other Estimates, will be taken. The Second Stage of the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Bill will be resumed on Wednesday next, 29th May. The Dáil will not meet on Thursday or Friday of next week.

Could the Vice-President give any indication as to when item No. 2 on the Order Paper— Slaughter of Animals Bill, 1933; Second Stage—(from the Seanad)— will be taken. It has been on the Order Paper now for a very long time.

I hope to have a statement for the Deputy in connection with that on Tuesday next.

Is the Vice-President in a position to state when the Minister for Industry and Commerce proposes to circulate the Insurance Bill?

Can the Vice-President say if it is likely that that Bill be taken before the adjournment for the Summer Recess?

That I cannot say.

Even that is not certain yet?

Can the Vice-President say when the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Bill will be circulated?

I am sorry that the Minister for Agriculture is not here, and I am not able to say.
