Vol. 57 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recommendations of Johnson Committee.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when the recommendations of the Johnson Committee as regards the cost of living index figure and bonus are to be put into effect.

The only material point arising on the Committee's Report on which a decision by the Government has not yet been given is that in regard to the undertaking of a fresh inquiry into household budgets referred to in paragraphs 49 and 65 (6) of the Report. As in the case of other recommendations by the Committee, a decision on this matter cannot be taken until the views of all classes of civil servants who are affected by it are available. These necessary representations by the staffs, which I have been prepared to consider at any time, have not yet been received.
