Vol. 57 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of applications for pensions under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, received to date; the number of such applications which have been refused and the number still awaiting decision.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of pensions awarded to date under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, and if he will distinguish as between the several units and ranks of the persons to whom pensions were so awarded.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a number of County Kerry applicants for pensions under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, were unable to appear before the Pensions Board when summoned to appear; whether he is aware that their inability to attend was due to their poverty and whether in these circumstances he is prepared to arrange for their attendance at a later date and issue to them travelling vouchers for the purpose.

asked the Minister for Defence whether it is the intention that sittings of the Pensions Board appointed under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, will be held in provincial centres or if not whether steps will be taken to issue travelling vouchers to claimants and to their essential witnesses to enable them to attend before the Board.
