Vol. 59 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nenagh Farmer's Wheat Claim.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that Mr. William Gleeson, Smithfield, Nenagh, sold to Messrs. O'Hara & Ryan, Ltd., Connolly Street, Nenagh, agents of the Department under the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1935, wheat to the value of £63 3s. Od., which they forwarded to Messrs. Rank, Ltd., Ireland; if he is further aware that Messrs. Rank, Ltd., forwarded the cheque for Mr. Gleeson's wheat on 14th September to the Department, to which Mr. Gleeson owed £2 12s. 6d. in connection with the scheme; if he is further aware that Mr. Gleeson has on three occasions written for the balance of his money to the Department and has received no reply, and if, in view of the fact that Mr. Gleeson has received a six-day notice from the Land Commission and requires capital to provide sheep for his land and wages for his men immediately, he will see that he is paid without further delay.

Dr. Ryan

It is regretted that, owing to the very large number of claims similar to that of Mr. William Gleeson, Smithfield, Nenagh, that had to be dealt with, unavoidable delay occurred in settling his claim. Mr. Gleeson was, however, paid on the 4th instant.
