Vol. 59 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clearing Dublin River.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is anticipated that the Irish Land Commission will be in a position to commence the work of clearing the river which runs through Newhaggard and Coldwinters Estate, County Dublin (Record No. S. 2566), complaint as to the choked condition of which was made by the Grangegorman Mental Hospital Committee as far back as 16th April last and renewed on two other occasions since then.

The Land Commission are at the moment clearing a drain on the lands of Coldwinters, recently acquired and divided by them. The clearing of this drain was undertaken as a result of the representations of the Grangegorman Mental Hospital Committee and will, it is hoped, considerably relieve the flooding of land in that area. The inspectors of the Land Commission are in touch with the Committee's officers as to further work upon the river which forms the boundary between the two properties.
