Vol. 59 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pension Case.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that Patrick McGuinness, Lettermoghera, Newport, County Mayo, was recommended for an old age pension of 10/- per week by the Newport Sub-Committee; that his Department refused to sanction same, and if he will state the reasons why such sanction was refused.

This claim was disallowed on appeal on the 26th October, 1935, on the ground that the claimant did not fulfil the statutory condition as to residence. It appeared from the evidence submitted in connection with the appeal that the claimant had not resided in Saorstát Eireann for a period of six years since attaining the age of 50 years, as required by Section 2 of the Act of 1932.
