The Department has at present under consideration a request from the Kildare County Council that the lands acquired by the council for forestry purposes should be taken over by the Department for State afforestation. In addition, an area of a couple of hundred acres has been offered for forestry purposes by private owners in the Enfield district and these lands are about to be inspected. It is not possible to say whether acquisition proceedings can be completed before the end of the financial year.
